Organized Dialogue Uses Prince Among Slave Film to Make Peace

In an effort to build greater understanding of the role of Muslims in early American slavery, Unity Production Foundation, the producer of Prince Among Slaves has launched a campaign to generate community dialogues in commemoration of Juneteenth. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, and it falls on June 19th, 2009.

Through 20,000 Dialogues, UPF has launched a nationwide initiative that uses discussions about its films to build greater understanding of Muslims. The misunderstandings between mainstream Americans and Muslims cause enormous challenges in our society. By enabling people to watch and discuss a film about Muslims, the campaign builds relationships across faiths and cultures, even at a time when current events cause tension.

20000 Dialogues works with local and national partners to expand community and living room dialogues.

Invite (all) to the Way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.
