The Riyaadah 27 Years Together – Bigger & Better

Over the pass 26 years, Masjids from all over the country have collaborated and competed in healthy athletic and Quranic competition under the banner of Islam.  With this in mind, the 27th Annual Riyaadah Planning committee formally invites you to attend.  The weekend begins on Friday, July 17th with Jummah in the Park, and a special Guest Khateeb.  There will be horseback riding for the children and other activities for the entire family after Jummah.  Friday night there will be a Fashion Show for Sisters Only in the Owl Cove at Temple University.

Saturday, July 18th begins the competition.  These events will be held at Temple University’s main campus, Broad & Montgomery Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year’s competition activities include:

•    Track & Field
•    Protect Your Imam Tug-of-War
•    Basketball
•    Fitness Competition
•    Flag Football
•    Soccer
•    Volleyball
•    & Pistol Competition held at pistol range off site.

In addition, there will be an Archery, & Martial Arts Demonstration. These demonstrations will not be held at Temple.  Site location to be announced.
While physical abilities are important, the spiritual development is always a part of our activities.  ALLAH (SWT) says in Surah 5, Ayat 48,

“…He would have made you (all) a single community but that He might test you in what He hath given you; so compete excelling one another in good deeds.  The return of you is to ALLAH;…”

With that being said, there will be motivational and spiritual workshops dealing with Quranic Recitation, Health & Wellness, Economic Development, Community Organizing, Stress Management, Phenomenal Women and more.

Saturday evening the Awards Banquet will be held at The Park Ave Banquet Hall, 49th & Parkside Ave.   On Sunday, July 19th, a community cook-out will culminate the weekend with Bar B Que, Islamic Trivia games and relaxation.

And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided.
